When you fall, FALL FORWARD and just get up and keep on going!
A letter from Daniel Jones - Dec 31st, 2011
One thing I have on my mind is the series of failings that come with growing as a believer in Christ. The short comings, strong holds, failures etc.
I was talking to a friend about that I don’t remember not knowing about Christ and [now] my short comings as a Christian. He said to me: “In your walk in Christ you will almost certainly always fall. It is a series of falls. BUT you need to remember two things: Always fall forward and always get up.”
This stood out to me a lot. As believers we know people who are totally in love with God but fail at something and stay down. They fall into a place where they don’t feel like its okay to pray and ask God for his forgiveness. I know this feeling. I haven’t dealt with it a lot but I have gone about a week thinking it wasn’t okay for me to pray. This is an attack of the enemy. This is a lie straight from the devil himself. When is it not okay for someone to pray? It’s always okay to pray!! And thinking through this I felt like a world was lifted up off my chest after I prayed.
We can’t fall into this places and not fight to get out of them. God says if you ask he will give. But you need to ask for help. It’s so important to pray and read the Bible every day. It is our daily bread and we have to view it that way, we cannot live without it.
I think this is where “Falling forward” comes into play. As long as we
get up from our mistakes, pray for forgiveness and learn, we are falling
forward. I tend to make the same mistake over and over. I pray
everyday that I’ll get better. And people around me can see this change
and I’m even getting to the point where the same mistakes I’ve made are
happening less and less often. My train of thought is changing. I claim
everyday that I will stop my mistakes and I know that one day this will all
be a mere afterthought of the man I laid down and the new man I am
becoming. Because the Lord has saved me. “The Great I Am” my Lord.
